DENTAL HYGIENE (A.A.S.)
Dental Hygienists provide dental health education, prevent and treat oral disease, promote and encourage the preventive aspects of dental care, and assume responsibility for patient care in the dental office. As part of their responsibilities, the dental hygienist will perform certain health care assessments including reviewing patient health histories, oral cancer screening, dental charting, and taking blood pressure. They expose, process and interpret dental radiographs. Dental Hygienists remove soft and hard deposits both above and below the gum line. They teach patients proper techniques to maintain healthy gums and teeth. They counsel their patients about the importance of good nutrition. How long is the program?
Our Dental Hygiene program is 70 weeks long. Will I receive hands-on, real world job experience?
In addition to the realistic laboratory environment Concorde provides, we also offer a hands-on working experience called clinicals. Our Dental Hygiene clinicals are 550 hours in duration and are conducted on campus. What skills will I learn?
· Take medical and dental histories
· Take vital signs
· Perform extra and intra oral examinations
· Perform periodontal and dental examinations
· Perform radiographs
· Perform risk assessments Where can I work?
Dental Hygienists are typically employed by General Dentists in private practices, group practices and specialty practices. Are there really jobs available for me?
We could tell you... "Absolutely." But, what we prefer to do is to encourage you to do the research yourself. Get a copy of your local newspaper and read through the Healthcare job listings. Look for your potential job category and see for yourself how many great opportunities will be available to you when you complete your Concorde training. Jump online and search some of the excellent job resource websites for opportunities in your field. The jobs are out there... so don't wait any longer if you want to work in Healthcare. Come to Concorde and we'll prepare you quickly and thoroughly for your new career. Will I receive any special certificates or qualifications?
· Concorde Career College Associate of Applied Science degree in Dental Hygiene
· You will be eligible to sit for the licensure exam to become a Registered and Licensed Dental Hygienist.

We know how important this question is to most of you. We have found that our program costs may change slightly with each new session. For that reason, we are unable to provide cost information on our website. We are, however, very happy to discuss our current program costs with you personally. Please give us a call anytime.
